Former NHLer Sean Avery retired from the league in 2012. The former New York Rangers star has since ventured into acting, modeling and podcasting, and has even authored his own book. He's also frequently seen enjoying rounds of golf.
Recently, Avery took his four-year-old son Nash Hollis to enjoy a father-son day at the golf course. On Thursday, Sean Avery posted clips from their outing on his Instagram stories.
In one of the clips, young Nash, dressed in a bright red bucket hat, a blue polo shirt and shorts, carefully lines up a putt on the green. In another clip, Nash confidently takes a swing, sending the ball smoothly toward the hole.
This isn't the first time Nash has visited the golf course. Avery often takes his son to play golf and posts special moments from his golfing outings on Instagram.
Sean Avery married model Hilary Rhoda in October 2015, and they welcomed Nash in 2020. However, their relationship deteriorated, and Rhoda filed for divorce in July 2022.
Sean Avery received a restraining order from ex-wife Hilary Rhoda
Sean Avery and Hilary Ronda’s separation was contentious, with Rhoda filing for a restraining order in October 2022. The restraining order was filed following allegations of domestic abuse.
In September 2022, Rhoda claimed Avery entered her home without permission and refused to leave, leading to his arrest for domestic battery. She also accused Avery of emotionally and physically abusive behavior towards their son, including an incident where he allegedly "body-slammed" Nash into a changing table, per legal documents obtained by US Weekly.
The restraining order prevented Avery from coming into contact with Rhoda and their then-three-year-old son, Nash. The order was extended in July 2023 and remained in effect until at least September 2023.
Avery and Rhoda were married for seven years before Rhoda filed for divorce in July 2022. She has since been granted full custody of Nash. Rhoda claimed Avery's behavior had worsened due to his struggles with drug addiction, which he admitted to after their separation.
Sean and Nash have been spending time together this year. The former NHLer often posts stories about his son.
Earlier last month, Avery took to Instagram to call out Disney+ for increasing its subscription prices. He expressed his frustration about the price hike, saying he canceled his subscription because he didn’t think it was worth paying more without getting anything extra in return.
Later, Avery posted another video where he changed his tone. He said he had thought things over and realized that Disney had provided a lot of enjoyment for both him and his son Nash over the years.
