Olympic gold medalist and former PWHL player Melodie Daoust and her wife, Hanna, celebrated Christmas together this year. The couple took pictures with their son, Matheo, and two other children. Daoust shared the adorable family photos on Instagram and she captioned the post:

“Happy holidays 🎄♥️"

In one picture, Melodie Daoust sits with her family in front of a beautifully decorated Christmas tree. Mélodie, Hanna, Matheo and the other two children are dressed in matching dark green plaid pajamas, snuggled together with warm smiles.

Another picture takes us to the front door of their home, adorned with an elegant holiday wreath. Inside, wooden shelves display charming Christmas decorations, including a small snowman figurine, a red stocking and other holiday ornaments.

In an outdoor shot, Mélodie and Hanna are bundled up in winter coats and scarves, standing in the snow with their Cane Corso dog. The snowy setting near a body of water and a pier adds a serene, wintry charm.

Two photos show us their son Matheo's winter adventures. In one photo, Matheo warms up by an outdoor fire pit, while in another he enjoys skiing, with snowy trees.

Melodie Daoust announced her retirement in June

In June, Melodie Daoust announced her retirement from playing hockey due to challenges in balancing her career and family life. She explained:

“The salaries in the PWHL are ok, but it wasn’t enough, so I had to have another job. Since work-life balance is very important to me, I had a choice to make,” Daoust said in an interview with The Hockey News.

Daoust emphasized that her family comes first.

“My family is my number one priority, so it was an easier decision to make,” she said.

At 32, Daoust believes she could still compete, but feels satisfied with her achievements.

"I felt good on the ice, I was in great shape, and I had a big smile whenever I was playing," she shared.

Her career highlights include winning gold at the 2021 World Championships in Calgary, where her son saw her compete at the highest level.

"We still talk about that moment, him and I," she said.

Daoust is currently focused on continuing her role as head coach of College Bourget. She’s also open to other coaching opportunities or media roles.

Her impressive career includes three Olympic medals, two World Championship medals and playing in the PWHL. Reflecting on her career, Daoust said:

"I felt accomplished in what I had done in hockey."

Melodie Daoust can be seen spending time with her son Matheo and her partner Hanna in several of her Instagram photos.
