NHL fans are busy discussing Nick Suzuki’s No. 16 ranking on NHL Network’s Top 20 Centers list. The Montreal Canadiens captain had a standout season, setting career highs and hitting 40+ assists for the third year in a row.

Last season, Suzuki played all 82 games, registering 77 points through 33 goals and 44 assists. He had a minus-14 rating and spent 36 minutes in the penalty box. Suzuki took 185 shots, scored 12 power-play goals and had 19 power-play assists. He did not score any shorthanded goals. Suzuki had one game-winning goal and averaged 21 minutes and 15 seconds of ice time per game.

NHL Network posted on X/Twitter, pointing out that Canadiens captain Nick Suzuki had a career-best season and hit 40+ assists for the third year in a row.

After the NHL Network's post, NHL fans began reacting to it on X. Many debated Suzuki's 16th-place ranking and shared their opinions online:

"Now that is crazy overrated, in what world is he a top 20 player," one fan said.
"Two way shutdown centers are the most valuable in the post season. He’ll get his chance soon enough to join the ranks of Barkov, O’reilly, Bergeron, Crosby, these are the type of players that win cups. Not the BS regular szn list that is pure marketing," another fan commented.
"It’s funny to read Habs and Sens fans arguing who’s better between the 16th and 17th best centre in the league," one fan said.

More reactions soon followed:

"As a honest habs fan he’s not better than stützle," another fan commented.
"He’s just all around a better center than the diving diva Stu. Stay mad sens fan," one fan said.
"Too high imo. Shouldn’t be above Stutzle or Thomas yet but it’s not ridiculous at least," another fan said.

Insider Matt Ohayon's remarks on Nick Suzuki

Matt Ohayon believes Nick Suzuki doesn't get the recognition he deserves in the NHL. While on "The Sick Podcast with Tony Marinaro" alongside Stu Cowan, they agreed Suzuki isn't on the same level as stars like Connor McDavid or Sidney Crosby:

“I think overall as a player, he doesn't get the respect he deserves around the league,” Ohayon said.

However, Ohayon added that he thinks Suzuki should still be seen as a strong top-line center.

"But I think he does have his place in being in 1B conversations of being even just middle-of-the-pack top-line centers. I think he should be in that conversation," he added.
