According to reports, Dennis Hildeby is set to start in goal for the Toronto Maple Leafs when they face the Columbus Blue Jackets on Tuesday. The Maple Leafs take on the Blue Jackets at the Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio where they'll be looking to build on their impressive win against the Tampa Bay Lightning.
This marks his second NHL appearance, following a strong debut performance on October 10th against the New Jersey Devils, where he made 21 saves from 23 shots to secure a 4-2 victory for his side. Dennis Hildeby will be tasked with stepping in for Anthony Stolarz who started on Monday’s during their 5-2 win over the Lightning.
Stolarz, who has been a standout in net for Toronto, is getting some much-needed rest after starting four consecutive games. Over his five appearances this season, Stolarz has impressed with a stellar .938 save percentage, further solidifying his role as a key contributor to the Leafs' strong start.
Facing a Columbus team that has tallied 18 goals in five games, Dennis Hildeby will need to build on his solid debut as he tries to help the Leafs continue their momentum.
With both goaltenders showing promise early in the season, Toronto seems to be in good shape between the pipes as they navigate a busy stretch in their schedule. Their depth in the position is further set to be boosted by the return of Joseph Woll who is yet to start a game for the Maple Leafs this season.
