Jakob Chychrun was acquired by the Ottawa Senators from the Arizona Coyotes on Wednesday. He will make his home debut at the Canadian Tire Centre on Saturday night against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
Despite a scary moment in his debut game against the New York Rangers on Thursday (where he hit the end boards hard and was slow to get up), Chychrun finished the game. The Senators won 5-3 against the Rangers and afterwarts general manager Pierre Dorion reassured fans:
"He’s fine today and he was fine after the game. There was nothing at all and everything seems good and he’ll make his home debut with a lot of family members in the crowd."

Jakob Chychrun's NHL Career
Jakob Chychrun plays as a defenseman for the Ottawa Senators in the NHL. He was born on March 31, 1998, in Boca Raton, Florida, USA. Chychrun was selected by the Arizona Coyotes in the first round (16th overall) of the 2016 NHL entry draft.
Chychrun started his junior career in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) with the Sarnia Sting. In his rookie season, he was named to the OHL All-Rookie Team, and he continued to improve in the following seasons. In the 2015-2016 season, he recorded 11 goals and 38 assists for 49 points in just 62 games played.
Chychrun made his NHL debut with the Coyotes in the 2016-2017 season and had an impressive rookie campaign. He scored seven goals and recorded 13 assists for 20 points in 68 games. He followed up with another solid season in 2017-2018, registering four goals and 10 assists for 14 points in 50 games.
Injuries limited Chychrun's playing time in the 2018-2019 and 2019-2020 seasons, but he bounced back in the 2020-2021 campaign. He had a career-high 18 goals and 27 assists for 45 points in 56 games.
On July 28, 2021, Jakob Chychrun was named to the Team USA roster for the 2021 IIHF World Championship. There, he recorded three goals and two assists in 10 games.
