As the Calgary Flames prepare to take on the Vancouver Canucks at 10 PM ET, fans may be wondering if defenseman Oliver Kylington will be making an appearance. However, according to Julian McKenzie of The Athletic, Kylington is currently staying in shape on his own and does not have a timeline for his return to the team.
Kylington has been absent from the Flames' lineup all season due to a personal matter. As the team has not provided any updates on his status, the 24-year-old has also maintained his privacy.
The Swedish defenseman has played a total of 168 career NHL games, recording 14 goals and 33 assists. He was selected by the Flames in the second round of the 2015 NHL Entry Draft and has been a part of the team's organization since.
Kylington's absence has left a void on the Flames' blue line, but the team has been able to manage without him. The Flames are currently in a tight race for a playoff spot in the Western Conference and will need all hands on deck to secure their spot in the postseason.
While Kylington's return is uncertain, the Flames will continue to move forward without him. The team has been getting contributions from their other defensemen, including Rasmus Andersson, Mark Giordano and Chris Tanev.
Fans of the Flames will surely be eagerly anticipating Kylington's return, whenever that may be. In the meantime, the team will need to continue to rely on its current roster to make a push for the playoffs
