Sidney Crosby in action while playing for Pittsburgh Penguins.

All eyes are on Sidney Crosby as the New York Islanders and Pittsburgh Penguins are set to square off one last time during the regular season. The eighth-placed Penguins (32-22-9) will play the seventh-place Islanders (33-25-8). The game will take place at the PPG Paints Arena on Thursday (March 9) at 7:00 PM ET.

Sidney Crosby will be playing tonight as he seems fit and rejuvenated after the recent winning streak of the Penguins. He has scored a total of 76 points this season, for which he has scored 28 goals and 48 assists. He will face Brock Nelson of the New York Islanders, who has a total of 61 points, which comprises 27 goals and 34 assists.

Both teams have performed quite remarkably in their previous games. The previous time Pittsburgh played at home, on March 7 against the Columbus Blue Jackets, they prevailed 5-4. On March 7, New York defeated the Buffalo Sabers 3-2 at home in their most recent game.

The Penguins have won four of their last five games, while the New York Islanders won three. The Penguins have done a great job at raking up goals in their last couple of games. They've scored 5+ goals in three of their last five games and scored seven goals in their game vs. the Lightning.

The Islanders and Penguins have squared off three times this season. Each time, New York has emerged victorious. Both victories on December 27 and February 27 took place at UBS Arena. Meanwhile, the most recent matchup, a 4-2 Islanders victory on February 20, took place at PPG Paints Arena.

The Isles have a 117-110-22-20 overall record while playing against the Penguins.

When Sidney Crosby broke the NHL playoff record

In the NHL playoffs last year, Crosby notched a goal and two assists, the second of which gave him 200 career points. Only five players in NHL history have accrued more playoff points, and Jaromir Jagr, a former forward for the Penguins, is just one point ahead of Crosby on the all-time list.

Given his feats across almost two decades on NHL ice, Sidney Crosby will be a name to watch against the Islanders tonight as he continues to chase history.
