Seattle Kraken analyst J.T. Brown’s wife Lexi shared a trolling incident she faced recently on Friday. On Instagram, she shared screenshots of a social media exchange about women in hockey which devolved into her getting abusive messages from trolls.
“Glad to see things are still totally normal and not at all terrifying over on twitter:” Lexi captioned her post in reply to an abusive message which said: "Stfu and d.. you useless bi..ch will qill you soon."
The tongue-in-cheek post was a reaction to the exchange Lexi was involved with on X (formerly Twitter). On Friday, Lexi replied to @Real_SmokingMan’s post, which claimed that “women have no place in mens hockey.”
“If you removed all the talented women working in men’s hockey all your fav teams would be left literally nonfunctional,” Lexi replied.
Lexi grew up in a family of hockey superfans and was a junior hockey player herself. Her post got a lot of positive reactions, with some users encouraging her and sharing stats in her support.
"Imagine what their PR and socials would look like, and all the beautiful photo campaigns. Women run hockey," one user posted.
Other users disagreed with Lexi’s statement but were polite about it.
"I don't support the comment you are replying to, but your comment is equally incorrect, another said.
However, a few posts were insulting and abusive.
Lexi, who is well-known as a prominent advocate for greater inclusivity in hockey, has her husband in her corner.
“Women in hockey have been fighting for recognition and equal opportunity for a long time. Thanks to the GOAT Angela James and other trailblazers like Blake Bolden, Sarah Nurse, Saroya Tinker, and Kelsey Koelzer, kids like my daughter can see themselves on the ice,” J.T. Brown posted on X.
Lexi first met J.T. Brown on Twitter
Lexi connected with J.T. Brown through Twitter in 2013. The couple were married in 2015 and have two kids, Lily and Booker.
Lexi also signed a two-book deal with Canary Street Press in March 2024 and said that her relationship with her husband was the inspiration for her debut novel.
"A hockey romance written by a former NHL hockey wife,” Lexi said. “Inspired by the great lengths some players go to create a little 'Puck Luck' for themselves. I can’t wait for you guys to meet these characters."
Her first book, “Shoot Your Shot”, will hit the bookshelves on Mar. 11, 2025.
