However, fans shared puzzled reactions to some notable names being left off the list, including Carolina Hurricanes defenseman Jaccob Slavin and Detroit Red Wings forward Dylan Larkin.
"jaccob slavin died wtfff," wrote @MHirsh21
"Get rid of hughes or usa loses," wrote @jason16023616.
Here are some more fan reactions:
"If Slavin isn’t on that team Bill Guerin needs to be in Leavenworth," opined @TheWarningTake.
"0% chance Brady is on the 4th line. USA is clearly the better team going into this, mainly because their goaltending couldn’t be much stronger," wrote @HotTakeHayd.
"Having Werenski, Hanifin and Carlson over Slavin is wild……." opined @Rambo_was_real1.
"Is the NHL considered the best league in the world? Are the best players in the NHL? That is the definition of “best on best” - not some stupid contrived thing to describe international hockey," wondered @billwinters18.
"No Boldy or Faber on USA?? What are we doing here bleacher report?" asked @MinsportsS.
"Absolutely wild you don’t have Jaccob Slavin on here," wrote @thatcrazycaniac.
"I think there's an error, Dylan Larkin is not on the USA roster...you must have posted the wrong photo...," added @TayTadge.
Illustrious names expected to suit up for Team Canada
As the traditional home of hockey, Canada boasts some of the best talent on the planet and is scheduled to have several native Canadian players on the roster. Among the ones expected to suit up include Sidney Crosby, Nathan MacKinnon, Cale Makar, Brayden Point, Brad Marchand and Connor McDavid.
American hockey fans still remember well losing to Canada in the gold medal round of the 2010 Vancouver and 2014 Sochi Olympics, but many argue that there's no shame in losing to the nation where hockey originated.
