Jack Campbell’s wife Ashley urged people to help save pets and small animals affected by the Los Angeles wildfires. Ashley highlighted the urgent need for help and support for animals, particularly kittens and puppies, who had suffered burn injuries as the fires spread across south LA.
“Hundreds of pups and kitties getting admitted with extensive burns. Anything helps! Heart is with LA,” she wrote.
Campbell, who plays for the Red Wings AHL affiliate Grand Rapids Griffins, and Ashley are both avid pet lovers and have two dogs, Huey and Millie.
Appealing for aid and supplies that could help the animals, Ashley shared a joint Instagram post from Jan. 9 from @nbcla and @cleartheshelters titled "Pasadena Humane is seeking food, water bowls, crates, and more."
The post caption read:
“Not long after fire began at Eaton Canyon Jan. 7, Pasadena Humane Animal Control Officers were on the scene to assist residents with urgent animal evacuations. The venerable animal organization has long been at the side of San Gabriel Valley locals in all sorts of important matters, including, most critically, when people and pets need to immediately relocate due to impending fire threat.”
It went on to say that the shelter had called for help on the morning of Jan. 8.
"We have taken in over 100 animals, including a pony, and are continuing to take in animals for emergency boarding," shared an announcement.
According to the Los Angeles Times, the ongoing flames in the Palisades, Altadena, and Hollywood Hills have killed 10 people and damaged or destroyed more than 9,000 structures. Over 180,000 people are under evacuation orders, and LA County is on red alert as the fires spread to nearby areas.
