James van Riemsdyk is an American professional ice hockey left winger for the Philadelphia Flyers. He played for the Toronto Maple Leafs from 2012 to 2018 and in 2018, he was traded to the Detroit Red Wings.

James van Riemsdyk married his gorgeous wife, Lauren Tjernlund on 19 July 2019 in a grand ceremony, in which both of them invited their family, friends, and close ones. They had been dating for a long time before their marriage.

On 2nd May 2020, their first daughter was born and the couple named her "Scarlett Everly Van Riemsdyk". Lauren made a social media post before the birth of their daughter in which she wrote "Future Girldad" before her daughter's birth.

Back then, the hashtag "Girldad" was quite popular due to the death of Kobe Bryant, who was a famous basketball star. Kobe died in a helicopter crash along with her daughter.

It was definitely moving for the couple to hear such news and the same was the case with NHL fans. But this news helped ease the fans and gave them an unexplainable relief. Lauren has stayed active on Twitter and has more than two thousand followers.

The couple gave birth to their second child on the 11th of October 2022. This time it was a baby boy, and Lauren consistently posts pictures of both her children on Twitter.

Riemsdyk had the fastest goal in NHL history to start the period in 4 seconds. His career has been remarkable and he is a settled man. He was voted the 100th Toronto Maple Leafs by his fans during the 2016-17 season.

The team began its centennial celebrations by compiling a list of the 100 greatest players in franchise history.

How Van Riemsdyk's evolved as an ice hockey player.

Van Riemsdyk was born in Middletown, New Jersey, on May 4, 1989, to Frans and Allison van Riemsdyk. His family, particularly his father, were die-hard fans of the New York Rangers.

He began playing ice hockey when he was five years old at a rink in New Jersey. Following that, he spent six years with the Brick Hockey Club in New Jersey. Both James and his brother Trevor led the Brick Stars to a national championship during their time with the club.

His hockey career continued at the Christian Brothers Academy in New Jersey. He continued to play for Brick, becoming team captain in 2004-05 and leading the team to the Atlantic District Championship.

He was a member of CBA's New Jersey Parochial Championship-winning team the same year. Van Riemsdyk's No. 21 jersey was retired from the Ocean Ice Palace in New Jersey, where he had skated since he was a child.

In 2005 he joined the USA Hockey National Team Development Program in Ann Arbor, Michigan. He had a remarkable stint there and scored 65 goals and 124 points in two seasons with the NTDP, ranking fifth and seventh in program history at the time.
