Johnny Gaudreau spent nine seasons with the Calgary Flames before joining Columbus in 2022. His death due to a cycling accident on Aug. 29 deeply impacted teammates, friends and family.

Johnny’s mother, Jane, also thanked Vladar on X.

"Thank you @danvladar for the beautiful tribute for our boys! I can’t wait to see the new mask in a few days! ❤️🔥🏒🥅@NHLFlames,” Jane wrote.

The Calgary Flames originally posted the clip on X and noted that Valader will wear the mask in both the away and home games against the Blue Jackets.

"An absolutely beautiful tribute. Dan Vladar will be sporting a new mask honouring Johnny and Matthew ❤️ He will wear it for both games against the Blue Jackets this season and then it will be auctioned off for the @FlamesFdn," the Flames captioned.

Vladar's mask will be auctioned after the season ends.

Johnny Gaudreau's wife Meredith thanked 'best friend' Sean Monahan

Johnny Gaudreau's wife Meredith shared her appreciation for Sean Monahan before the Blue Jackets-Flames game. Johnny and Monahan were teammates in Calgary and planned to reunite in Columbus before Johnny’s tragic death.

“A huge reason I’m here [in Columbus] is because of John [Gaudreau]. I play for him, his wife, his kids, his family, and the guys in the room. At the same time, you are playing for yourself to get through a time like this. I try to enjoy it as much as I can,” Monahan captioned.
