Johnny Gaudreau's wife Meredith grateful for Rasmus Andersson’s family as her wife shares throwback Thanksgiving video

On Saturday, Johnny Gaudreau's wife, Meredith, shared her gratitude for Rasmus Andersson’s family on Instagram. She reshared a story from Tessa Andersson, Rasmus Andersson’s wife, featuring a throwback Thanksgiving video. The clip showed Johnny spending Thanksgiving with the Anderssons.

“Feel lucky I got to spend Thanksgiving with these ppl. Even if it consisted of donuts and frozen pizza,” Meredith captioned.

Rasmus is the alternate captain of the Calgary Flames. He was drafted 53rd overall by the team in the 2015 NHL entry draft. His family’s kindness has been comforting for Meredith during a difficult time.

This Thanksgiving was the Gaudreau family's first without Johnny and his brother, Matthew, who tragically died on Aug. 29. The brothers were killed in a cycling accident in New Jersey, one day before serving as groomsmen at their sister’s wedding. Their loss has deeply affected their family and the NHL community.

Johnny's sister Katie also shared an emotional Instagram post on Saturday. She posted a photo with Johnny, Matthew and their parents, Jane and Guy Gaudreau.

Last Sunday, Katie also reshared an eight-year-old Thanksgiving photo. It showed the siblings and their partners sitting on a couch.

Madeline discussed Matthew and Johnny Gaudreau's strong bond

On Thursday, Madeline Gaudreau shared a Thanksgiving post on Instagram of her husband, Matthew Gaudreau, and her brother-in-law Johnny Gaudreau. She posted a photo of them sitting together.

Madeline and Johnny’s wife Meredith are both pregnant. While it's Madeline's first child, Meredith has been blessed with two children: 2-year-old Noa and nine-month-old Johnny Jr. They have supported each other during difficult times. Meredith described the brothers as best friends despite having different personalities.

She shared their inseparable bond and that they were always beside each other even in groups.

"John and Matty. U don’t hear one name without the other. Always side by side. Even in large group settings, u can find them hip to hip. John’s younger brother- but he looked up to Matty and relied on him for everythinggg. And Matty was always there. Absolute best friends and biggest fans of each other despite polar opposite personalities," Meredith captioned on Instagram on Sept. 1.

Meredith also reflected on how everyone loved being around them and how Johnny Gaudreau enjoyed his time with Matthew.
