The New York Islanders, which now includes Anthony Duclair, have to keep a clean shave and shorter hair. With Lou Lamoriello still running the show, Duclair had to cut off his dreads and beard for the upcoming season.

Lexi LaFleur Brown, JT Brown's wife, shared the image of the cut hair on X and her caption is clear that she is not pleased with what her husband had to do:

"And it finally happened. Totally out of line to ask a Black man to cut his dreads. The labor and money and time and love that goes into hair like this is extensive. Past time to change this archaic rule."

The New York Yankees have a similar rule, and both teams have come under fire for it. They are the only teams from the NHL and MLB who employ such guidelines, and it's a new story whenever a notable player has to cut his hair.

However, the rule is not a surprise to players who join the Islanders, including Duclair. He signed a four-year deal knowing what he needs to do with his hair.

Exploring Islanders' rules in wake of Anthony Duclair haircut

The New York Islanders and their GM's interesting rules are in the spotlight again after Anthony Duclair had to shave and cut his dreads. It is the most prominent rule, but it's far from the only one that Lou Lamoriello has for his players.

They can't have any facial hair unless they're growing playoff beards. They also can't have hair past the collar, which is why Duclair had to cut his. Jewelry, like necklaces or earrings, is also not allowed.

Jackets and ties must be worn to games and while players are on the bus and plane. No broadcast members or media members are allowed to be on the team charter, so it is always a private outing.

Lamoriello has the Islanders operating under a lot of different directives, but players who sign with the team are aware of the rules in place.
