On Tuesday, former NHL professional player JT Brown's wife, Lexi LaFleur Brown, reminisced about one of her most emotional days of 2024. Through a reel on Instagram, she shared the moment she discovered her book was being published.
"It was between those moments of despair that I got some of the best news of my life," she wrote. "Canary Street Press wanted to buy and publish my book. While I darted back and forth between my bed and the toilet, my rockstar agent, Deidre Knight secured me an unbelievable two-book book deal. My dream would become a reality.
"It was an unforgettable day and a reminder that the universe must always balance itself 🤣."
Lexi’s first book, "Shoot Your Shot," will hit the bookshelves on Mar. 11. The publisher describes it as “a steamy and superstitious hockey rom-com debut!”
“2024 showed me it was ok to dream big and in 2025 I’m gonna live it!” Lexi added.
Lexi drew from her real-life romance with JT Brown for her book
Lexi LaFleur Brown’s relationship with JT Brown, who is a TV analyst for the Seattle Kraken, was the inspiration for the book. It is set in Seattle, where the couple reside. Brown played as a right-winger for the Tampa Bay Lightning, Anaheim Ducks, and Minnesota Wild.
Lexi, whose family are hockey superfans, has always been involved with the sport in one way or another. The social media influencer shared that her book was inspired by her experiences as an NHL hockey wife.
"I sold my book," Lexi said in April. "A hockey romance written by a former NHL hockey wife. Inspired by the great lengths some players go to create a little 'Puck Luck' for themselves. I can’t wait for you guys to meet these characters."
Lexi, who advocates for more inclusivity in hockey, shares a glimpse into her own post-meet-cute hockey life with her novel.
