The New York Rangers are preparing on their home ice at Madison Square Garden for the new season. The team won't begin playing for a little over three weeks, but they are working on preparing everything for the Oct. 8 opening day of the season.
Fans were both excited and cautious about the upcoming season. The Rangers did well last year, including getting an impressive winning streak during the playoffs, and could be in store for a good year.
Others were pessimistic about it, with one in particular blaming Jacob Trouba for the troubles that had not yet happened. NHL fans weighed in on the new ice for the Rangers.
"No it's not. Maybe forfeit the season and move to Quebec," another tweeted on X.
"Thank dog. Hurry up and get here," one tweeted.
"Beautiful to see it again," another tweeted.
"Oh happy day!" one tweeted.
For the most part, there is optimism with the fanbase that this can be a good year for them. They fell to the eventual Stanley Cup champion Florida Panthers in six games in the Eastern Conference Finals.
However, they made quick work of the Carolina Hurricanes and Washington Capitals before that, so they remain one of the top teams in the East.
NHL analyst raises question on New York Rangers star
Jacob Trouba of the New York Rangers was the subject of seemingly unfounded trade rumors over the summer, which he handled well. One NHL insider wants to know whether or not it will spark an increase in production from the player.
Arthur Staple of The Athletic said:
"What is known is that a discussion about no-trade teams and possible destinations is almost certainly coming after 2023-24, so will all that’s been said and all that’s to come be too much on his shoulders? Or will we see a version of the feisty, helmet-throwing captain who helped turn around 2022-23a with his fire?"
Time will tell, though at least one Rangers fan is convinced Trouba will not have a good season.
