NHL players break out in celebrations after goals, like other athletes. Some celebrations end up becoming iconic, whether because of widespread usage, iconic nature or the level of the player who's using them.
This is true across all sports and there are many famous celebrations. Some even cross over into other events. NHL goal celebrations can vary, and one X account wanted to know what the fans think is the most famous celebration in hockey's history.
There was a wide variety of replies, with fans opting to shoutout some celebrations that deserved a moment in the sun. Whether they were done by old players or current ones didn't matter. Here is a slice of the responses.
"Patty Kane Celly in the 2015 Cup finals," another said.
"The dude who knocks off the water bottle off the back of the net and then picks it up and drinks it is the best bar none!" one exclaimed.
"Definitely the Capitals fan seated on the glass for their Stanley Cup win five years ago. Or the Oilers fan from last year's playoff run," one fan joked.
"The Kane heartbreaker by farrr," another added.
The Patrick Kane celebration got a lot of love in the comments section. It was the prevailing answer and can reasonably claim to be the most iconic celebration of all time.
Here is the video of the iconic celebration:
In the celebration, Kane will skate down the court and make a big heart with his fingers, drawing it in the air. Then, the Red Wings star will punch the heart, thus breaking it. This signifies what he is doing to opponents when he scores.
Patrick Kane back with Red Wings for more iconic NHL celebrations
The Red Wings fans can look forward to seeing more of the heartbreaker as the star player re-signed with the team earlier this summer.
Last year, Kane was out for much of the season with a hip injury, but he's fully healthy now and under contract once more.
The 35-year-old future Hall of Famer signed a one-year extension to remain with the team. He may not have all that many years left, but he will continue celebrating with the Red Wings for the time being.
