Minnesota Wild star Kirill Kaprizov is still recovering from a right knee injury. He got hurt on Thursday in Edmonton, which caused him to miss Saturday's game in Calgary. A team source told The Athletic on Sunday that Kaprizov had an MRI in the Twin Cities and was checked by doctors in Bloomington.
The good news is that Kaprizov did not suffer a serious injury. The team will monitor him on a consistent basis and decide when he can return to the lineup. The Wild play the Winnipeg Jets on Monday, but it's unclear if Kaprizov will be ready.
"Kaprizov is feeling better, did not sustain a serious injury and the Wild will monitor him day by day to see how he progresses and how he feels," Michael Russo of The Athletic reported.
Kaprizov was injured after a collision with Drake Caggiula on Thursday. He is second in the NHL with 34 points and leads the league with 12 multi-point games. He has 1.79 points per game, 26 even-strength points (11 goals, 15 assists), and 24 points on the road.
Kirill Kaprizov's road point streak of 11 games ended because he missed the Calgary game.
Minnesota Wild lose 4-3 in Kirill Kaprizov's absence
The Minnesota Wild lost 4-3 in a shootout to the Calgary Flames on Saturday at Scotiabank Saddledome. Minnesota played without Kirill Kaprizov, who missed the game due to a lower-body injury.
Marco Rossi praised the team’s effort in Kaprizov's absence, saying,
"Especially with Kirill out ... he's our best player and it's hard when you lose the best player. We know as a team we have to stick together, and everyone had to step up today and I thought we did a pretty good job." (via NHL.com).
