Legendary New York Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist has been inducted into the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2025. The induction ceremony will take place on May 25th in Stockholm, Sweden.
Lundqvist shared his thoughts on X, saying:
"Honored to be part of the IIHF Hall of Fame class of 2025. Representing Sweden in international games throughout my career was special. It was always my dream as a kid to play for Tre Kronor. Thank you for this huge honor. @IIHFHockey @Trekronorse."
Lundqvist joins fellow NHL alumni Zdeno Chara, Frans Nielsen, and David Vyborny in this year's IIHF Hall of Fame class. Also being inducted are women's players Vicky Sunohara and Kim Martin-Hasson, along with Finnish builder Kai Hintarinta.
Lundqvist's international highlight came at the 2006 Turin Olympics, where his dominant play in net led Sweden to the gold medal.
In addition, Henrik Lundqvist backstopped Sweden to silver medals at the 2014 Sochi Olympics and 2004 World Championships. He also contributed to Sweden's gold medal victory at the 2017 World Championships.

Lundqvist played 15 seasons with the New York Rangers and while he signed for the Washington Capitals, he retired in 2021 without playing for the Capitals after a heart surgery.
