This week, the EA NHL 25 trailer was released on X. Fans had long been clamoring for the gameplay trailer ahead of the Oct. 4 release. However, up until now, EA had been keeping their cards close to the vest.

On Thursday, the game's official account gave fans an update, providing a gameplay trailer, as well as preorder details.

The trailer shows off all-new gameplay mechanics, such as the ICE-Q system, which is described as true hockey intelligence, giving the game a more realistic feel. In addition to the ICE-Q system, the game also boasts next-gen vision controls to give players a better feel for the pacing of the game.

However, that wasn't all! The trailer also revealed that over 250 new animations have been added to the game, giving NHL players their own unique feel within the game to enhance realism.

The game will also include reactive player actions, which appear to mirror actual footage from the NHL season, as seen in the trailer below:

The NHL community was quick to react to the trailer:

"Lemme guess.. no PC still?" - One fan asked.
"Skill Zone bout to go crazy" - One wrote.

Plenty of other fans weren't happy about NHL 25 being released exclusively on consoles:

"no pc again, at least the game hasn't changed much again" - One wrote.
"Yet another year of no PC release, so yet another year I skip I guess. If you don't release the game on the platform I own there's not much I can do" - Another added.

Other fans weren't impressed with the NHL 25 trailer:

"Looks like NHL 20 with updated rosters" - One wrote.
"So the same as 24 but with a reskin and even worsened controls? Gotcha." - Another wrote.

Looking at preorder details for EA NHL 25

In addition to the all-new trailer for EA NHL 25, the game releasing on Oct. 4 at 9 a.m. PT (Noon Eastern), EA also announced preorder details. Much like other EA sports games, NHL 25 will have preorder incentives for fans.

Fans who preorder the Deluxe Edition will be able to play the game seven days early, giving them a head start on Hockey Ultimate Team (HUT) and World Of 'Chel (WOC). Additionally, the Deluxe Edition comes with 4,600 NHL points, and the Season 1 pass of WOC free of charge, along with two XP boosters for WOC.

In addition, the Deluxe Edition comes with a number of HUT bonuses to give players an edge right off the rip with a slew of HUT player picks, ranging from 82+ OVR to 85+ OVR.

The Deluxe Edition of the game is priced at $99.99 plus tax on both Xbox Series X/S, as well as PlayStation 5. However, a Standard Edition of the game is also available for $69.99 plus tax.

The Standard Edition notably comes with significantly fewer perks. However, it does include 500 NHL Points, an HUT player pack and two WOC experience point boosters.
