Edmonton Oilers’ star Leon Draisaitl’s fiancee Celeste Desjardins shared more details about her routine as the new year approaches. The actress posted snaps on her Instagram Story on Sunday enjoying quality time with her parents and a couple of short clips of stunning beach panoramas.
Celeste’s father, Rob, dropped a carousel sharing more details from her day with her folks. Some of the photos showed the family enjoying a windy walk on the beach before heading to their home for a cozy dinner and fireside chat.
The actress, who appeared in Luc Besson’s "Taken" TV series, was able to snatch a quiet evening with her family and take a break from her hectic schedule.
Celeste also shared a carousel of her best moments from 2024 on Sunday, which included Draisaitl proposing to her and attending her best friend Lauren Kyle’s wedding to Connor McDavid. Other images capturing the eventful and joy-filled year included a photo of her father at her engagement party in Mallorca, homey snaps of her with her two dogs, selfies with her best friends and photos of her interacting with the partners of her fiance’s teammates.
The pictures remind us of the busy offseason the couple had, with Connor and Lauren’s wedding as well as spending time with Draisaitl’s sister Kim and her family.
Double from Leon Draisaitl unable to salvage Oilers’ weekend
Draisaitl and the Oilers had a forgettable weekend in California. They lost 4-3 to the LA Kings on Saturday and were upset by the Anaheim Ducks 5-3 on Sunday, despite leading 3-1 in the second period thanks to two power play goals from the German center. However, that wasn’t enough as the Oilers let the game slip from their hands.
Edmonton went into the holiday break on an 11-2 streak but its back-to-back losses should serve as a wake-up call. In both games, the Oilers were ahead entering the third period but failed to protect their lead. While the overtime loss against the Kings was a see-saw affair that could have gone either way, there are no excuses for the players' lackluster performance against the Ducks.
The Oilers were heavy favorites to win against a team with the worst goal-scoring record in the league. According to Edmonton coach Kris Knoblauch, poor puck management and a lack of effort were the major reasons the team lost.
“We had two two-goal leads and we put in a strong effort in the third period but we shouldn’t have been in that situation,” Knoblauch said, via the Edmonton Journal. “When you’re up two goals, that’s a game where we have to continue playing hard and I don’t think we did.”
