Leon Draisaitl and the Edmonton Oilers again look like serious contenders for the Stanley Cup in 2024-25. Edmonton has won four consecutive games, improving their record to 29-13-3 and moving level with the Vegas Golden Knights (61 points) in the Pacific Division standings.

The Oilers have just achieved impressive back-to-back road victories against Minnesota and Colorado. Both wins featured comebacks, as Edmonton defeated the Wild 5-3 and the Avalanche 4-3.

Leon Draisaitl took to Instagram to send a message to Oil Country this morning as they've begun the second half of the 2024-25 campaign. Here's what he had to say.

"Backhalf is underway," Draisaitl captioned his post.

The vibes are as high as can be for a team that's gone 16-3-1 in their last 20 games played. After a 2023-24 season that saw Edmonton go all the way to game seven of the Stanley Cup Final, Draisaitl, McDavid, and the Oilers are as hungry as ever to avenge that loss.

Leon Draisaitl is in the race for the Hart Trophy

Leon Draisaitl is in one of the best seasons of his NHL career. The 29-year-old has racked up 67 points (31 goals, 36 assists) in just 45 games. He has a four-goal cushion for the NHL goal-scoring lead over Mark Schiefele and Sam Reinhart (27 goals) and sits second in the league in points behind only Colorado's Nathan MacKinnon (72 points).

Draisaitl's elite production has led the Oilers to a top-five position in the NHL standings and he is firmly in the mix to take home his second Hart Trophy. Per FanDuel Sportsbook, Draisaitl has the third-best odds to win the award at +320. Only Nathan MacKinnon at +280 and his Oilers teammate Connor McDavid at +300 have shorter odds.

Should he maintain his goal-scoring lead, he'll win the Maurice Rocket Richard Trophy for the first time in his career. It's been quite the season for the German superstar, even for his lofty standards.

Leon Draisaitl and the Oilers will finish off their three-game road trip on Saturday night on Hockey Night in Canada in Vancouver against the Canucks. The puck drops at 10 p.m. EST at Rogers Arena.
