"Like it was yesterday": Nick Jensen's wife Jenner beams with pride as husband completes 600 NHL games

Ottawa Senators defenseman Nick Jensen has had a long journey in the NHL. He appeared in his 600th league game on Friday when he took to the ice against the St. Louis Blues.

Nick’s wife Jenner was over the moon and shared a commemorative post on her Instagram Story and congratulated Nick on his feat.

"I remember the first one like it was yesterday. Forever proud of you," Jenner wrote.

Another story featured a post from Jenner’s sister Cassie. It showed Cassie’s child dressed in Nick's #3 Senators jersey while holding a TV remote.

Speaking to the media ahead of the game against the Blues, Nick said he hadn’t realized how many games he had played until it was pointed out to him on Thursday and that it wouldn’t affect his performance.

“It doesn’t make a difference to me and how I play," Nick said. "I try to bring what I bring to the table every night. That's what I'm going to try to do. Doesn't matter if it's my 600th game.”

He added that he wanted to always remind himself how lucky he is to be able to play in the NHL so that he can savor these moments.

“Personal milestones like these are obviously great individually and it kind of does make you stop and reflect a little bit about how lucky you are to still be here," Nick said. "I know when it's over it's going to feel like it flew right by and you're going to want it back.”

Nick added that it always felt nice when his family got to see him play at the NHL level because of the love and support they gave him while growing up.

Nick and Jenner Jensen have known each other since they were five years old and started dating when they were in middle school. Their relationship has blossomed and lasted because of their shared passion for sports, according to Jenner.

The couple were high school sports stars and earned sports scholarships from St. Cloud University in Minnesota. Jenner was an All-American basketball player and became only the second women’s player to score over 1,000 (1,634) career points in school history.

Nick and Jenner married in 2015 and have three sons: Lorenzo, Leon and Otto.
