During a tense moment in the Ottawa Senators' win, Linus Ullmark was challenged to a fight. Opposite goaltender Jordan Binnington was involved with Brady Tkachuk, who he had in a headlock. Once he was removed from the situation, he skated down towards the other net, offering to fight Ullmark.

Ullmark didn't take the bait and instead skated over to his own bench. Binnington did the same until the situation was resolved, unable to spark a fight with his team trailing by six goals at that point.

Ullmark said after the game:

"That was just all act. We're up at 7-1 at that point and it's necessary for me to go down there. He stood up for one of his guys and held away one of our best fighters as well. I'm pretty sure Brady can take care of himself."

Ullmark said that Tkachuk, the captain of the Senators, didn't need his help but also gave Binnington a little bit of credit for taking everyone on in that situation.

He said via RMNB:

“I rather not do anything. I feel it’s unnecessary for me to do that. If the time comes and I have to go in order to stick up for my teammates, I’ll do it, but there wasn’t any need for it today.”

He opened up on what transpired between himself and Binnington before he left the ice:

“He just shrugged his shoulders, whatever, wondering where I was. I was taking care of business in my end and trying to focus on what’s been working for me this game. I’ll let them deal with whatever happened in that zone.”

Ullmark was excellent in the win, as his team only conceded one goal and improved to 5-4-0 on the season, dropping the Blues to 5-5-0.
