The 2024-25 NHL season starts on October 4, and the Carolina Hurricanes had a strong 2023-24 season, finishing with a 52-23-7 record but losing in the Eastern Conference Second Round. NHL Network tweeted,
"The @Canes have made some changes to their forward group this offseason. Where does this group currently rank in the Metro Division?"
The projected forward lines are:
- Andrei Svechnikov - Sebastian Aho - Seth Jarvis
- Jack Roslovic - Jack Drury - Martin Necas
- Jordan Martinook - Jordan Staal - Jesper Fast
- William Carrier - Jesperi Kotkaniemi - Eric Robinson
NHL fans weighed in with their thoughts on the projected forward lines for the Hurricanes in 2024,
"This team looks significantly weaker… Great first line though," one fan said.
"The Carolina Hurricanes are cooked big time. The Canes are gonna be either 3rd in the Metro, a wild card team, or they'll miss the entire playoffs entirely," another fan said.
"That center depth is god awful. LOOOL Belongs in a tier 3 beer league in Charlotte. LLOLOLOLOLOL," one fan said.
Here are some more reactions from fans on X:
"There gonna have issues on offense but have 23 million in cap space next year to acquire the appropriate forwards. This Canes team is in a one year transformation plan. But still will be a playoff team. Nobody improved enough in eastern conference so they will have some chance," a fan said.
"Soft, but not as soft as the Devils core," one fan compared.
"Nadeau is going to be in that lineup and outside of that what did they lose besides turbo? They were playoff bound 6 years straight without the two months with Geuntzel. So they lost the rental and turbo. There are 3 players that had down years looking to rebound, a player ready to breakout and a rookie with a lethal one timer. They’ll be fine. Plus, kochetkov takes over the net," a fan detailed.
Carolina Hurricanes brought some changes in the offseason
The Carolina Hurricanes have made several changes to their roster. Sean Walker signed a five-year contract on July 1. Shayne Gostisbehere joined on a three-year deal, adding 56 points from last season. Jack Roslovic signed a one-year contract, contributing 31 points. William Carrier, a Stanley Cup winner, signed a six-year contract. Eric Tulsky was named general manager on June 18.
Key departures for the Carolina Hurricanes include Jake Guentzel, traded to the Lightning, and Brady Skjei, who signed with the Predators. Brett Pesce joined the Devils, and Teuvo Teravainen returned to the Blackhawks. Stefan Noesen also signed with the Devils. Antti Raanta left after three seasons, and Evgeny Kuznetsov was placed on unconditional waivers on July 17. These changes reflect significant shifts in the Hurricanes' lineup.
