On Tuesday, TSN reporter Mark Masters tweeted his condition on X, formerly Twitter:

"Joseph Woll (lower body tightness) is back on the ice ahead of Leafs practice Skated on his own yesterday."

Woll was placed on injured reserve last Wednesday. This surprised many as he could have started against the New Jersey Devils. CBS expected him to be out for at least a week and return for Wednesday's game against the Los Angeles Kings. In Woll's absence, goalies Anthony Stolarz and Dennis Hildeby are getting more playing time.

Fans had mixed feelings about the news.

“Give us the beast, he’s our present and future," a fan tweeted, referring to Dennis Hildeby. "Woll is made of glass.”

"I have zero faith is this guy to play on a consistent basis! To miss game 7 out of the blue with a lower body injury and now this one seems to have come out if the blue. He didn’t even have much work in the preseason! What did he start 2 games?" Another fan tweeted.

"Don’t let him practice, I don’t want him injured again," a fan tweeted, showing concern.
"Comes back, plays 2 games, gets injured," a fan tweeted.
"We have been okay without him but sure come back up! Don't get hurt again. We need you!" one fan tweeted.

Head coach Craig Berube's comments on Joseph Woll

Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender Joseph Woll returned to the ice on Monday before practice. Coach Craig Berube discussed Woll's condition with TSN.

"It’s a good sign. He’s improving," Berube said.

Woll was scratched late due to lower-body tightness. He was thus placed on injured reserve with no clear return date.

Woll signed a three-year, $11 million extension this off-season. Last year, he played 25 games, with a record of 12-11-1. He had a goals-against average of 2.95 and a save percentage of .907. He also played in three playoff games and won two. However, he missed Game 7 of the series against the Boston Bruins due to injury.
