Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube was disappointed after the team's 2-1 loss against the Ottawa Senators on Saturday. The Senators, who had been struggling to find the back of the net, were able to break out of their scoring slump, with Shane Pinto and Tim Stutzle finding the net.

"We had a lot of opportunities that we didn't put in the net. I think that is the difference. The team played hard. We were ready to go. I thought we did a lot of good things except score. We got better as the game went along." Berube said. (6:15)

Berube praised the Senators for making it difficult for the Maple Leafs to generate offense. Despite the loss, Berube was happy with his team's defensive effort against the Senators.

"They defended hard. The guys dug in. We were physical in our puck battles and did a good job. That is a good team over there. We know that. They have a lot of talent. We just have to stick with it," he added.
"If you play hockey like that, you are going to win a lot of games. In the end, we just didn’t score enough."

Bobby McMann had the lone goal for Toronto, while Joseph Woll made 21 saves in the losing effort, while Anton Forsberg made 28 saves.

The Maple Leafs will next face the Minnesota Wild on Wednesday.

Craig Berube's take on the knee-on-knee collision between Jacob Quillan and Nick Cousins

The knee-on-knee collision between Leafs rookie Jacob Quillan and Senators Nick Cousins occurred in the first period as they crashed into the ice after making contact in the neutral zone. No penalty was called on the play.

When asked about the collision after the game, Craid Berube said:

"That was a tough hit. I didn’t understand how they missed that. To me, that is a knee all day long. He was fine. It is a tough game for him to play. It got tight, so I didn’t give him a lot down the stretch, but for me, he was fine."

Quillan returned to the game later, but Cousins did not. The Senators later confirmed that the knee injury will keep him out for some time.
