Max Domi, Jake McCabe and others are coming back soon. The Toronto Maple Leafs, despite a recent two-game skid, are one of the top teams in hockey this year. At 16-9-2, they're one win and two points back of the Florida Panthers in the Atlantic Division. They have done so despite a variety of injuries.
Domi, McCabe, Max Pacioretty and Bobby McMann have all been dealing with various ailments, but they should return this week if they haven't already.
On Monday, insider Darren Dreger noted that Pacioretty is already back and said (via TSN's First Up):
"Well this week, no question about that. And just following up on what Bob McKenzie meticulously reported on Friday as the insider on the Leafs panel. Domi and McCabe, I believe are scheduled to return as early as tomorrow against New Jersey."
Dreger reported that the Leafs are hopeful that McMann should be back in the lineup against the Anaheim Ducks no later than Thursday, adding that this is great news for GM Brad Treliving, who is finally getting a healthy roster.
Auston Matthews missed several weeks with an injury before returning. Goalie Joseph Woll has missed some time this year with injury as well. Despite those and other losses, the Maple Leafs have played well and are only getting healthier.
Max Pacioretty opens up on return to Maple Leafs
Max Pacioretty spent 12 games on the long-term injured reserve for the Leafs. He finally returned to action, but it was a lengthy process. He's back to playing meaningful minutes again, but things have been challenging.
The Leafs star said last week via The Hockey News:
"Yeah, I mean, defense pushes me from behind while the shot's coming from our point, so I try and dodge the puck so it doesn't hit me in the face at the same time, and just got tangled up there.
He dealt with injuries in his career, and it has been a sore spot for the player:
"I've been down this road before and do everything I can, use this time to maybe work on some areas that I can get better at, and that's how I've used the last three weeks."
He was able to work his way back and now awaits the return of Max Domi, Jake McCabe and others.
