Montreal Victoire captain Marie-Philip Poulin took to social media to share her love for fans of the city. The PWHL player highlighted the growing popularity of the women's game and thanked fans for turning out in big numbers through her Instagram Story.

She shared a two-word caption to a post stating that tickets for their home stadium, the Place Bell Arena, had sold out.

“The best,” Poulin’s caption read.

Another pic in the Story was a preview poster of the game on Jan. 17. The Montreal Victoire faced off against the Minnesota Frost on Friday and won 4-2 in front of 10,172 fans.

Poulin scored the match-winning goal for her team. Former Minnesota forward Abby Boreen scored twice and Claire Dalton once to secure the win for Montreal.

Speaking after the game, Boreen said that she had great support from her linemates on the night and is enjoying her time on the ice.

“We have something really special and [I’m] very happy to be here. I can't wait to keep going with them. I love playing here, our fans are the best in the league,” she said, via thePWHL.com

This was the second straight match between the two franchises. The win means that Victoire is now tied for first place in the PWHL with the Frost, but with two games in hand.

The Frost had defeated the Victoire 4-2 in an earlier match on Sunday in Denver, which was part of the PWHL's Takeover Tour. The event features a series of PWHL games in neutral venues.

Montreal will continue the nine-game Takeover Tour with a game against the Ottawa Charge next on Sunday at Quebec City's Videotron Centre.

Marie-Philip Poulin named PWHL’s first Star of the Week

On Jan. 13, the Montreal Victoire center was named the PWHL’s first Star of the Week for her consistent performances on the ice.

She scored two goals, one of them a stunner, during Montreal’s 4-2 win against the Toronto Sceptres on Jan. 8 and had an assist in their loss to the Minnesota Frost in Denver on Jan. 12.

The PWHL's official X account shared a video of Poulin's goal, captioned:

"Another look at why they call her Captain Clutch 🤯"

Poulin, who has been a member of Canada’s national team since 2007 and captain since 2015, is among the most decorated and experienced players in the PWHL.
