The Toronto Maple Leafs have lost two games in a row in dreadful fashion after a stellar start to the season. Last night's loss was to head coach Craig Berube's former team, the St. Louis Blues. During the game, he could be seen yelling at the Leafs' front line.
During a break, Berube was very animated off the ice. He was pointing towards the ice frustratedly, while his players had their heads down or were drinking water.
NHL fans were quick to point this out. Berube's frustration and the perceived lack of care from stars like Mitch Marner and Auston Matthews had them speculating on whether or not this team has a good setup.
"For the 8th year in a row nothing will change unless the core changes the rest is window dressing," one said.
"He still thinks he has the Blues roster he used to coach. This roster, specifically the core 4 has a completely different style," another said.
"Good. The last coach was afraid of these guys. Chief won't stand for it," one chimed in.
"It goes in one ear and out the other with this team. They don’t listen. They don’t play with heart," another lamented.
The outburst didn't seem to change anything, as the Leafs ultimately lost 5-1.
Maple Leafs head coach calls out team after loss
The Toronto Maple Leafs had no answers defensively for the St. Louis Blues last night. That was a major issue that head coach Craig Berube highlighted after his team's four-goal loss.

He said via Sportsnet:
"We gotta fix that. That's a problem right now. We made mistakes, bottom line. Defensive mistakes."
Captain Auston Matthews said the team has to be better, and Berube went on to add:
"It was lazy hockey on the goal. That's the bottom line. Our whole team is getting a little cute. We just gotta play direct. We don't need that kinda stuff."
The Maple Leafs' first chance to fix the issues their coach has pointed out comes tomorrow night (Oct. 26) when they take on the struggling Boston Bruins. Both teams have already recorded four losses on the year.
