Fans reacted as the Boston Bruins' losing streak extended to three games following a 6-4 loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday night.

The Maple Leafs welcomed back captain Auston Matthews, who had missed six games due to a re-aggravated upper-body injury.

However, it was 22-year-old forward Mathew Knies who stole the show, scoring his first NHL hat-trick. The game began with defenseman Jake McCabe scoring the first goal at 3:29 of the first period, giving the Maple Leafs a 1-0 lead.

Knies increased the lead to 2-0 with his first goal at 3:37 of the second period. The Bruins' Morgan Geekie responded 12 seconds later before Trent Frederic scored at 18:44 to tie the game at 2-2 by the end of the second period.

In the third period, Knies scored his second goal at 3:43, but David Pastrnak equalized 34 seconds later. Knies completed his hat-trick at 5:28, giving the Maple Leafs a 4-3 lead. Mitchell Marner added an empty-net goal at 17:55, increasing the lead to 5-3.

Pastrnak scored his second goal at 18:10, cutting the deficit to 5-4. However, captain Auston Matthews sealed the win with an empty-net goal at 19:29, securing victory for the Maple Leafs.

The win marked the Maple Leafs' third consecutive victory and their second straight over the Bruins this season, following a 4-0 shutout on Nov. 6. The dominant performance sparked jubilation among Maple Leafs fans, who took to social media to poke fun at their Original Six rivals.

The Toronto Maple Leafs were poised for victory as they hosted the Boston Bruins at Scotiabank Arena on Saturday night. Captain Auston Matthews, who had missed six games due to a re-aggravated upper-body injury, made his highly anticipated return to the lineup.

In a dominant performance, the Maple Leafs emerged victorious, thanks in large part to 22-year-old Mathew Knies' first NHL hat-trick. Matthews sealed the win with an empty-net goal at 19:29 in the third period, marking his 12th goal in 25 games.

Despite missing 15 games due to injury, Matthews continues to impress, producing 26 points (12 goals, 14 assists) in just 25 games. The Maple Leafs improved their overall record to 25-13-2, solidifying their position atop the Atlantic Division.

In contrast, the Boston Bruins have struggled, losing three consecutive games and posting a 5-4-1 record in their last 10. They sit third in the Atlantic Division. The Bruins face the struggling New York Islanders in their next game on Sunday, who have gone 3-7-0 in their last 10 and languishing at the bottom of the Metropolitan Division.
