Oilers star Connor McDavid reaches the 1,000-point mark
Connor McDavid reached the 1,000-point mark in the NHL by scoring a goal against the Nashville Predators on Thursday.
He became the 99th player in league history to do so. He achieved this milestone in only 659 games, making him the fourth-fastest to reach it.
Only Wayne Gretzky (424), Mario Lemieux (513) and Mike Bossy (656) reached 1,000 points faster.
McDavid, at 27 years and 306 days old, also became the fourth-youngest player to reach 1,000 points. He is the youngest since Steve Yzerman reached the milestone in 1993.
Much of McDavid’s success is attributed to his strong partnership with teammate Leon Draisaitl. Together, they have contributed to 445 goals, with McDavid assisting on 192 of Draisaitl's goals, placing them among the NHL’s top scoring pairs.
This season, McDavid hit his 1,000th point by scoring his 18th point in the 2024-25 season. He needed only 58 games to go from 900 to 1,000 points. His current pace keeps him at 1.52 points per game, which could place him among the NHL's top 50 all-time scorers by the end of his contract in 2025-26.
This milestone places McDavid alongside other legendary Oilers, including Wayne Gretzky, Jari Kurri and Mark Messier.
