NHL analyst and former player Paul Bissonnette discussed his involvement in a restaurant altercation in Phoenix, Arizona. Speaking on "The Pat McAfee Show" on Wednesday, Bissonnette described stepping in to defend the staff at Houston’s restaurant from harassment by a group of men. The situation escalated outside the establishment, culminating in a physical confrontation.
Bissonnette recounted how the group, which he linked to an alleged scam gang, attacked him near a CVS dumpster after following him outside. Despite defending himself briefly, he was overpowered and sought safety inside the CVS.
"I walked over & told the guy if he was gonna keep harassing & assaulting the staff we were gonna have problems ... Maybe that didn't de-escalate the situation," Bissonnette said.
The police later arrested the suspects, whom Bissonnette identified as Danny Bradley, John and William Carroll, Sean Daly and Henry Mesker. These individuals were reportedly involved in fraudulent activities and provided fake addresses during the investigation. In a bold statement, Bissonnette publicly challenged one of the assailants to a boxing match.
"I want the legal system to take care of these guys but I will gladly waive the civil suit if that Danny Bradley would meet me in the ring somewhere." Bissonnette said, expressing his frustration and desire for justice through the legal system.
Bissonnette expressed gratitude that police surveillance corroborated most of his recollection of events.
Paul Bissonnette claimed the suspects were under influence
Previously Paul Bissonnette shared new details about his assault involving the group he called Irish travelers. The group caused issues at a Scottsdale golf club and later harassed Houston’s restaurant staff. Bissonnette described his account of being tackled and attacked by multiple men.
Surveillance footage confirmed most of what he said. Bissonnette speculated that the suspects’ erratic and aggressive behavior might have been influenced by drug use.
"I've seen guys fight on cocaine. And these guys were definitely on cocaine. I'd have to say ... This last week has been a whirlwind," Bissonnette said per SK.
And a lot has happened since I last came on this podcast to talk about what went down ... getting bootfu**ed and co**eyed from the six Irish travelers, as we're calling them, is about 95% of my recollection of the events based on what the cops have seen on surveillance is accurate. So I didn't fabricate anything."
Bissonnette said he has no regrets about defending the restaurant staff and praised their professionalism and the quick response of first responders. The investigation is ongoing, and the suspects face upcoming court dates.
