The Philadelphia Flyers suffered their sixth straight loss after falling 6-3 to the Washington Capitals. The defeat pushed the Flyers to 1-5-1 on the season, while the Capitals improved to 5-1-0, capturing their fifth consecutive victory.
Philadelphia's Travis Konecny, Owen Tippett and Matvei Michkov scored goals, but they weren't enough to overcome the Capitals, who saw goals from Connor McMichael (two), Alex Ovechkin, Taylor Raddysh, Nic Dowd and Pierre-Luc Dubois. Flyers goaltender Ivan Fedotov allowed four goals on 24 shots while Logan Thompson played solid, making 26 saves for the win.
Frustrated Flyers fans took to social media to vent following the loss. One fan wrote, referencing the team's highly touted 19-year-old Russian forward:
"Michkov might request a trade at this rate."
Another fan wrote,
"Well the team fought back..." WE LOST. Fedotov sucks. The defense sucks. The entire team SUCKS. Onto next season you f**king bums."
Here are other fan reactions:
"WINGS MUSTVE BEEN STRIPPED OFF THE WAY THIS TEAM PLAYS" one fan wrote on X.
"FIRE EVERYONE. 3-15 in last 18 games. And a comeback that was a tease as it is against the law to NOT give up 2 empty net goals." another user wrote.
"As much as we’re angry and upset a couple takeaways. They finally showed heart and fought back. Ivan settled in. Only gave up 4 compared to his over 6 g/a. Michkov looks good. Zemula should be blown to bits and those bits buried at the bottom of the Marianas trench" a user commented.
"Tanking this early is bold but im all for it." another user wrote.
Up next, the Philadelphia Flyers will face the Minnesota Wild on Friday at Wells Fargo Center.
