Former NHLer Mike Commodore criticized Justin Trudeau following the Prime Minister's announcement of his resignation on Monday.

Trudeau, who has served as Prime Minister of Canada and leader of the Liberal Party, revealed he would step down as soon as a new party leader is chosen, marking a significant shift in Canadian politics.

Although the timeline for his departure is not yet clear, Trudeau is expected to remain in office until the leadership transition occurs, which could happen relatively quickly.

Mike Commodore took to the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to voice his opinion, writing:

"Although I would have preferred an election rather than a resignation…#PackYourSh*t Trudeau…Canadians have seen enough of your bullsh*t."

Trudeau has been in power since 2015, serving three consecutive terms, but his popularity has significantly declined due to high inflation, a housing affordability crisis, and a growing desire among voters for a change in leadership.

As Trudeau prepares to step down, several potential successors have emerged. Notable names include Mark Carney, Christy Clark, Dominic LeBlanc, Chrystia Freeland, and Anita Anand, among others.

Mike Commodore shares his thoughts about referees after Canada's shocking WJC exit

Canada suffered a shocking elimination from the 2025 World Juniors, falling 4-3 to Czechia in the quarterfinals.

The game was marked by controversial officiating, particularly surrounding a knee-on-knee hit by Cole Beaudoin on Petr Sikora, which resulted in a five-minute major penalty.

Mike Commodore weighed in on the situation, expressing his mixed feelings about the referees' decisions.

"Folks…seen both clips now..5 min looked dicey to me first time seeing it full speed..replay I thought it was clean…2 min call end of game was bogus..but end of day can’t leave it up to the refs..especially IIHF..gotta play better. Tough tourney," he wrote.

Mike Commodore played for several teams during his NHL career that lasted for more than a decade. His most memorable stint was with the Carolina Hurricanes with whom he won the Stanley Cup in 2006.
