New York Rangers defenseman K'Andre Miller is facing heavy criticism from fans after a costly turnover in Tuesday's 5-4 overtime loss to the Dallas Stars.
With the Rangers leading 4-3 late in the third period, Miller's giveaway in the defensive zone led directly to Thomas Harley's game-tying goal for Dallas with just 2:39 left in regulation.
The Rangers had led 3-0 in the first period before allowing Dallas to come back twice to tie the game and lose in overtime. Miller's $7,744,000 contract as a top defenseman put him squarely in the crosshairs of angry Rangers’ fans on social media following the collapse.
One fan wrote on X/Twitter:
"Miller is a disgrace. How is he playing over Jones."
Another fan said:
“GET MILLER OFF THE TEAM”.
Here are some more reactions from fans on X:
"Another L. Please get rid of Miller. Turnover machine," one fan wrote.
"The turnover was bad, but then all he had to do was knock the guy over. He had about six chances to do so but instead let him make an easy pass into the slot," another fan wrote.
"Miller turnover is god awful with a 1 goal lead if anything just chip it out man !!!!" one fan commented.
"This guy is 6’ 7 on skates and that’s the defense he plays after a terrible giveaway?" another fan wrote.
The turnover overshadowed strong offensive nights from Vincent Trocheck (two goals) and Alexis Lafreniere (two goals) in the loss. Evgenii Dadonov, Jason Roberson, Jamie Benn and Matt Duchene also scored for the Stars.
Jake Oettinger stopped 21 shots, while Jonathan Quick made 34 saves in the loss.
