Minnesota Wild coach John Hynes expressed his frustration regarding the referee's explanation following a controversial no-call on Connor McDavid's elbow to Marcus Johansson on Wednesday.

The incident occurred with over 40 seconds remaining in the second period. As Johansson attempted to maneuver around McDavid to reach the puck, he was struck by the Oilers captain's right elbow.

The replay showcased that McDavid had slightly extended his elbow, but neither referee made a call. Meanwhile, Joel Eriksson EK, who didn't witness the incident, approached referee Chris Lee to inquire about the incident.

Lee informed him that Johansson was hit with his own stick, a claim that further fueled Hynes' frustration over the officiating.

"That's the key point right there. He catches him with what? Thank you," Hynes said about Lee's explanation of the incident.
"I dont even want to go down that road, because it will probably infuriate you more than it infuriates me right now. So I am just going to bypass that. Similar to the other game, not a good answer. Let me put it that way."

Johansson, who has previously dealt with concussions, was down on the ice for a while before he left to seek medical attention. He didn't return for the third period and is now expected to be sidelined for a while with an upper-body injury.

Connor McDavid moves to second in all-time Oilers' scoring list

Connor McDavid had a stellar performance in the Edmonton Oilers' 5-3 win over the Minnesota Wild at Xcel City Center on Wednesday.

He recorded three points, including two goals and an assist. The three-point outing moved McDavid up the ranks in Oilers history, making him the second-leading point scorer with 1,044 points in 686 games, surpassing Hall of Famer Jari Kurri's tally of 1,043 in 754 games.

Only Wayne Gretzky, having accumulated 1,669 points in 696 games for the Oilers, remains ahead of Connor McDavid.

"I’ve seen so many remarkable things from him. He’s a tremendous player and great teammate. I said I wouldn’t be surprised anymore just because he surprises you so often over these years, but it’s a nice feat for him and the guys are very proud of him," Oilers HC Kris Knoblauch said (via NHL.com).

Meanwhile, it was a seventh win for the Oilers (28-12-3) in their last eight outings. They next face the Colorado Avalanche (27-17-1) on Friday at Ball Arena, with the puck drop scheduled for 9:30 p.m. ET.
