"Most embarrassing loss in years", "Myers is woeful": Fans upset after Vancouver Canucks squander 4-1 lead in OT loss to Seattle Kraken

In a stunning upset, the Vancouver Canucks fell to the Seattle Kraken 5-4 after comfortably leading 4-1 until the third period. The Canucks, who were hosting the Kraken's at Rogers Arena on Saturday afternoon, suddenly lost momentum of the game with three back-to-back goals from the visitors, including left-winger Jaden Schwartz’s second tally, which came at just 49 seconds left in the third period and made the scores even.

Vince Dunn then sealed the victory the deal Kraken's, scoring his second goal of the match at 2:15 in overtime.

Playing without star defenseman and Norris Trophy winner Quinn Hughes and center Elias Pettersson, both sidelined due to undisclosed inuries, the Vancouver Canucks were in complete control of the game for the 55 minutes, and looked poised for their second staright win following three losses last week.

In a game that saw the Canucks outhit the Kraken 14-3 in the first period, the team's collapse will go down in NHL history as only the third contest in the NHL's 107-year history that a team lost a game after having a three-goal lead in the final five minutes of the game.

The abrupt loss has come as a huge letdown for the Vancouver Canucks fans, with many taking to X express their exasperation.

"The most embarrassing loss in years, and I’ve seen alot of embarrassing losses from this club", one fan wrote.
"What a disgrace to lose that way", reacted another fan.
"Pathetic. This team is not making the playoffs. Last year was a perfect storm of luck", noted another fan.

The Canucks' have lost their final game of the month, and are now 1-2-2 in their last five gmaes. Many infuriate fans pointed teams' weak defence as the primary reason for the loss and have started to criticize Tyler Myers and Carson Soucy. In particular, 34-year-old Myers has come under fire, for letting the pluck loose at the critical moment , which allowed Vince Dunn's to score the game-winning goal in the OT.

However, defenseman Vince Dunn proved to be the prime factor in the Kraken's victory, as along with scoring the first goal for his team, the 28-year-old also netted the match-winning goal at 2:15 in the overtime and sealed the deal for the Kraken's.

Saturday's thrilling victory was Kraken's first victory after five staright losses, with their previous win coming on Dec. 13. The Kraken are now placed sixth in the Pacific Division with a 16-19-2 record. Their next matchup is against Utah on Monday.
