The Toronto Maple Leafs are facing a decision regarding goaltender Laurent Brossoit this offseason. The team and Brossoit have shown mutual interest in a potential deal once he becomes a free agent on July 1. Brossoit is seeking a larger role as a backup after a solid season with the Winnipeg Jets.

However, a recent Reddit post by r/leafs has generated controversy among Maple Leafs fans. The Reddit post raised concerns about Brossoit's X/Twitter following list. The following list includes accounts such as InfoWars and individuals like Andrew Tate and Project Veritas.

Maple Leafs fans were stunned and upset by a Reddit post that appeared on r/leafs. One fan expressed surprise at Laurent Brossoit's list of people he follows, describing it as a:

Despite the backlash, some fans pointed out that controversial beliefs are not uncommon among NHL players.

"Half the players believe all this same shit. Domi is a Trump supporter and Bert is an anti-vaxxer. Have you ever been in a hockey locker room before lmao? As long as they produce results on the ice idgaf," one fan wrote.
"Different people have different views. His don't align with mine but the Leafs aren't competing to be the wokest team in the league here, so I wouldn't give two sh*ts if they signed this guy," one fan commented.
"How to evaluate a human being: Who they follow on socials, how they act in real life, what they've said," the other fan wrote.
