Former NHL player Valeri Bure’s wife Candace posted a video message to support the people affected by the wildfires in Los Angeles. Valeri, who played for the Montreal Canadiens, Calgary Flames, Florida Panthers, St Louis Blues and Dallas Stars from 1995 to 2004, lives in California with his family.

Candace, an actress best known for her role in the hit sitcom "Full House," said that the fires had been devastating. The caption of her post reads:

“My heart is so heavy. Just sharing my emotions and stories here. I am in deep prayer for the communities, people and friends who have lost everything from the fires. And also the heroes who are helping. I sit in grief with you. I kneel in prayer with you. I hold you tightly. May God comfort you in a ways that surpass understanding.”

The LA Times reported that 10 people have died and over 9,000 structures have been damaged or destroyed by the ongoing wildfires in the Palisades, Altadena and Hollywood Hills. Over 130,000 residents are under evacuation orders and a red alert has been issued as the fires continue to spread towards surrounding areas.

Valeri Bure’s wife speaks about emotional connection in Palisades

Candace explained her emotional connection with the Pacific Palisades, one of the regions hit hardest by the wildfires. Her voice trembled in grief as she said: “80 percent of the Palisades are just gone.”

“We lived in the Palisades for 30 years," she said. "When Val and I first got married, we bought our first house up in the Palisades Highlands …Throughout the years of our life, we’ve always had a house in the Palisades or Malibu and our kids went to elementary and middle school in the Palisades; they went to Pali High for high school. It really is our community, it has been up until last year.”

Trying to fight back tears, she added:

“It’s so sad the amount of people who’ve lost their homes and their businesses. I know them personally, they’re my friends. And I feel so helpless.
"It’s just heartbreaking. We saw videos of our home that we just sold last year. That whole neighborhood is decimated. The whole street is gone; there’s nothing left of the house and my neighbors’ homes. I’ve talked to them and it’s so sad...Even though we don’t live there anymore, it’s so many memories.”

The Palisades fire has reportedly spread out over more than 19,900 acres and has destroyed at least 5,000 structures.
