Some fans online were skeptical about Brock Boeser staying in Vancouver due to the news circulating in the NHL community about his $8 Million AAV demand.
“Next milestone will be in a different jersey unfortunately,” one fan wrote.
"Haha subtle Brockie! Ok Aquilinis, Brock should be in the ballpark of $60 let’s gooooo," another fan said.
"Really want him to retire a canuck. Him and JT have a special connection," one fan mentioned.
There were also comments about the rumored $8 million contract demand.
“Haha Brock be like I’m loyal AF but I’m gonna need 8 for that so,” A fan said.
"Take a Cauncks Discount if you really want to stay otherwise Allvin and Rutherford will Trade you at the Deadline..." another fan said.
"8x7 or 7.5, and we get him signed. 8 is pushing it for me, but of course it’s Chef Alvin and Rutherfords decision and I trust them," a fan wrote.
"Oh, Boeser and Hankinson heard Rutherford's comment about Miller being loyal and deserving their loyalty, alright," a fan joked.
Fans are watching closely as the Canucks face a decision on Boeser’s future.
Brock Boeser's contract demand rumors
Brock Boeser had a career-best season in 2023-24, scoring 40 goals and recording 73 points. He also helped the Canucks in the playoffs, with 12 points in 12 games. Boeser, set to become a free agent next summer, is seeking an eight-year contract worth over $8 million annually.
"With Jake Guentzel pushing the value of UFA scoring wingers up, Boeser is looking for eight years, north of $8 million AAV range, and Vancouver isn’t yet prepared to pay him what his projected value is," Sportsnet’s Nick Kypreos reported.
The Canucks must decide whether to extend him, trade him, or risk losing him for nothing. His current production is below last year’s pace. However, Brock Boeser remains an important part of the team’s offense.
