Monday marked a humiliating night for Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins as they lost 7-1 to the Dallas Stars at home in PPG Paints Arena.

The Penguins struggled so much that they allowed six goals in just the first period. After the game, NHL social media buzzed with speculation about what Crosby should do next.

Former NHLer and analyst Paul Bissonnette reacted to the defeat by proposing that Sidney Crosby move to the Colorado Avalanche. In his post on X/Twitter, Bissonnette wrote:

"Crosby to the Avalanche. Do it for hockey."

Fans quickly responded to his suggestion, sharing their opinions on the proposal and where they believe he should go in the aftermath of the Penguins' loss to the Stars.

One fan said:

"Crosby to Edmonton to play with McDavid and Draisaitl on the nuclear line."

Another chimed in:

"Crosby to Leafs actually."

Here are some more reactions from fans on X:

"Crosby on the Avs is like Whit or Biz on the Blues. Never gonna happen until the career is over," another fan opined.
"Crosby to Washington. The heater they're on to start the season + image him setting up Ovechkin with goal 895," one fan commented.
"There's no way he wants to stay on a team that's letting in 6 goals in the first period at home." a fan added.
"Na, send em to Washington to play with Ovie. What an ending that would be to their careers, think of all the possibilities," one fan wrote.

Notably, this also marked the biggest defeat for Crosby and the Penguins this season. The club has missed the playoffs for the past two consecutive seasons. Currently, the Penguins sit seventh in the Metro Division with 14 points after 17 games.

How Dallas Stars downed Sidney Crosby's Penguins

The Dallas Stars started the game strong, taking a 3-0 lead within the first ten minutes of the opening period. Matt Duchene, Logan Stankoven and Mason Marchment scored for the Stars in that frame.

At 13:09, Miro Hieskanen increased the lead to 4-0 and then scored his second goal just over a minute later, making it 5-0. Tyler Seguine capitalized on a powerplay to extend the lead to 6-0 for the visitors in the first period.

In the final period, Wyatt Johnson's goal sealed a 7-1 victory for the Stars. Anthony Beauvillier was the lone scorer for the Penguins in the matchup. Sidney Crosby recorded two shots during the game, while Alex Nadeljkovic and Joel Blomqvist allowed four and three goals, respectively.

The Penguins (6-9-2) face the Detroit Red Wings (6-7-1) next on Wednesday. The puck drops at 7:30 p.m. ET.
