NHL insider Frank Seravalli has revealed new details on the trade rumors surrounding Vancouver Canucks forward J.T. Miller.

Earlier this week, it was reported that the Canucks and the New York Rangers nearly completed a blockbuster deal to send Miller back to New York. However, Seravalli has said that while the Rangers remain interested, a trade is far from certain.

On the NHL Coast to Coast show, Seravalli said:

"There seemed to be a notion floating around the league on Thursday, and even reported in some circles that for JT Miller, it still remained to be the New York Rangers or bust. And I'm here to tell you that that's not accurate.
"There's still plenty of teams that are involved in the mix for JT Miller at this point in time.”

Additionally, Seravalli believes that the quietness in recent days indicates that Vancouver may be closing in on a deal to ship Miller out soon.

The Rangers had a deal on the table involving forwards Filip Chytil and a first-round pick as well as a prospect. But New York apparently balked at taking on the remainder of Miller's contract, which carries a $8 million cap hit through 2030. This impasse has put trade talks with the Rangers on life support for now.

“It's obviously cooled significantly and opened the door now for other teams to jump in," Seravalli added. "Is it dead? No. Could he still be traded to the New York Rangers? Yes,but it seems kind of unlikely at this point, the way that it's dragged on."

While a J.T. Miller-to-Rangers blockbuster can't be ruled out entirely, Seravalli thinks that it's unlikely given how long it has dragged on.

Another potential team interested in J.T. Miller

According to NHL insider Frank Seravalli, the Carolina Hurricanes are another top suitor for Vancouver Canucks forward J.T. Miller.

Seravalli reported that the Hurricanes have been granted permission by Vancouver to speak directly to Miller’s agent, which indicates that Miller likely would waive his no-trade clause to go to Carolina.

"League sources indicate that the Carolina Hurricanes have been one of the most active teams across the league over the last handful of days. They're working to try and bring in, I believe, a skilled forward, and they might not necessarily just be Miller," Seravalli said.

Seravalli pointed out that the Hurricanes have presented multiple trade offers to the Canucks in an attempt to pry away their leading scorer.
