The Florida Panthers thrashed the Tampa Bay Lightning in a 7-1 victory at home in the FLA Live Arena on Monday (February 6) night.
The game looked close up until the second half of the second period when Nikita Kucherov brought one back for the Lightning, making it 1-2. The Panthers, though, took over for the rest of the game, scoring five unanswered goals.

Florida Panthers win Battle of Florida
The winner of the game has been crowned the kings of Florida. The Panthers not only won but did so in overwhelming fashion against the Tampa Bay Lightning.
Carter Verhaeghe opened the scoring for the Panthers with the only goal in the first period. Sam Bennett netted the second, with an assist for the 2023 NHL All-Star Game MVP Matthew Tkachuk, making it two assits for him in the game.
Nikita Kucherov scored the only goal for Tampa Bay Lightning, which came early in the second period. Matthew Tkachuk and Eetu Luostarinen rounded off the second period, making it 4-1 for the Panthers.
Eric Staal scored his first goal for the Florida Panthers early in the third period. Verhaeghe and Tkachuk both scored their second of the night to cap off a thunderous display by the Panthers.
Matthew Tkachuk added 5 points to his tally, thanks to his two goals and three assists in the game.
