Ryan Nugent-Hopkins scored his 100th point this season on Wednesday.

Edmonton Oilers star Ryan Nugent-Hopkins is having a career-high season with the team.

On Wednesday, during the Oilers' 3-1 win over the Anaheim Ducks, the 29-year-old recorded an assist and took his season tally to 100 points.

Soon after reaching the remarkable 100-point plateau, fans flooded Twitter to praise and congratulate Nugent-Hopkins for his achievement.

The 29-year-old forward has played in 79 games for the Edmonton Oilers this season and has managed to accumulate 100 points (through 36 goals and 64 assists). Nugent-Hopkins is currently ranked in eighth place as the leading goalscorer in the 2022-23 NHL season.

Combined with Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl, the trio have contributed over 370 points for the team this season. Interestingly, all three of these players have hit the 100-point milestone this season, making them the first trio to do so since 1996.

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins' NHL journey

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins began his hockey career in the Western Hockey League (WHL) with the Red Deer Rebels. He played for the team from 2008 to 2011 and quickly became a standout player, scoring 65 points in his first season and 106 points in his second.

In his final year with the Rebels, he was named the WHL Player of the Year and was a finalist for the Canadian Hockey League Player of the Year.

In 2011, the Edmonton Oilers drafted Ryan Nugent-Hopkins first overall in the NHL entry draft. He made his NHL debut in October of that year and quickly made an impact, scoring his first goal in his second game. He finished his rookie season with 52 points in 62 games and was a finalist for the Calder Trophy, awarded to the NHL's top rookie.

Over the years, Nugent-Hopkins has established himself as a critical player for the Oilers, primarily as a center. He has consistently scored at a high level, with his second-best season coming in 2018-2019, when he recorded 69 points in 82 games.

In addition to his success in the NHL, Nugent-Hopkins has represented Canada on the international stage. He played for Canada at the 2013 and 2015 IIHF World Championships, winning gold in 2015. He also played for Canada at the 2016 World Cup of Hockey.

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins has spent his entire NHL career with the Oilers, signing several contracts with the team over the years. He is signed through the 2028-2029 season and remains integral to the team's plans.
