Former Toronto Maple Leafs star Nick Foligno recently appeared on the 'Dropping the Gloves' podcast and shared some thoughts regarding his time with the team.
Foligno joined the Maple Leafs in April 2021 after spending nine years with the Columbus Blue Jackets. The winger was touted to be the next big addition for Toronto, but injuries and physical restraints led to a different story.
Foligno mentioned what 'bothered' him regarding his time with the Maple Leafs and said,
"Just to get them over the hump and some snarl, attitude and personality in that dressing room. That's probably the thing that really bothered me the most. I was just so frustrated because I knew I was really hurt... I was a shell of myself," Foligno stated.
Foligno then shared his regret of not being able to motivate the team as much and said he has to live with that regret.
"In between periods, I couldn't help galvanize the team... I'm sure the Toronto fans were disappointed in how it all shook out, but I guarantee you I'm more disappointed. That's something I have to live with," Foligno added.
The sincerity with which Foligno expressed his inability to contribute to the Maple Leafs was evident as the star only played in 11 total games with the team and provided five assists.

Nick Foligno also recently recalled his time spent and funny anecdotes with his former Ottawa Senators teammate Dany Heatley.
Foligno mentioned the rather weird morning routine the former NHL player had with the Senators,
"I'll never forget this. He'd come in, he'd have his towel up to his nipples pretty much, and he'd walk in, he had this, like, strut, and he also had a torn ac... But he'd have those monster, like a Rockstar drinks. I'm talking like eight in the morning, right?"
He went on to share his high praise for Heatley despite his off-ice behavioral concerns. Foligno also discussed how he had a long-lasting career with multiple franchises in the NHL.
