Ottawa Senators goaltender Linus Ullmark was the subject of concerned fan reactions as he is not expected back on the ice any time soon. HC Travis Green stated that the Swedish player is considered week-to-week with an upper-body injury.

Ullmark came off during Ottawa’s Dec. 22 game against the Edmonton Oilers with a tightness in his back and hasn’t played since. He has a 12-7-2 record, .915 save percentage and 2.38 goals-against average this season for the Ottawa Senators.

Fans expressed their concern about how the team would perform with Ullmark absent. One fan commented that the Senators have greatly depended on the goalie this season.

"Shocker his back hurts from carrying his team," another fan said.
"Brutal for Sens fans. There’s no “good” timing for an injury, but this is really bad timing with Habs 1pt out from that WC spot," read one comment.
"Rebuild is over…" was another reaction.

Other fans were pessimistic about how the rest of the season would go for the Senators.

"Finished team. See you all in July when you're prancing around proclaiming the off-season as the "Summer of Staios," another user posted on X.
"Ontario has some fragile goalies," another fan said.
"Bruins won the trade," said another user, referring to Ullmark's former team.

Other reactions called for the goalie to be put on injured reserve, showing the frustration among Senators fans.

Senators' loss against St. Louis in the absence of Linus Ullmark

The Senators have had a poor start to 2025 in Linus Ullmark’s absence, losing to the Dallas Stars 4-2 on Jan. 3 and getting blanked 4-0 by the St. Louis Blues in Saturday night’s game.

A major problem, according to pundits, was goalie Anton Forsberg, who was making his first start in a month. He made 21 saves during the game but let in three goals out of the first 12 shots he faced.

Senators coach Travis Green said the team must find a way to raise their offensive game.

“We got to find a way to get some more offense out of our group. We're playing well defensively, but we've got to create more,” he said.

He also refused to blame Ottawa’s marathon road trip for the team’s dip in form. The Senators will play the Detroit Red Wings on Tuesday in the last of nine consecutive games on the road.
