Cutter Gauthier returned to Philadelphia on Saturday with a tough reception as the Flyers beat the Anaheim Ducks 6-0. Gauthier, traded by the Flyers last year, was booed loudly and targeted with heckles throughout the game. Fans cheered even louder after Jamie Drysdale, the player acquired for Gauthier, scored a first period power play goal.

Gauthier had three shots in 13:19 of ice time. His best chance came in the third, but the puck slid wide. The Flyers played physically, with players like Rasmus Ristolainen delivering big hits on Gauthier that fans loved.

Gauthier said he wasn’t affected by the crowd, focusing on his game instead.

"I mean it is what it is." Gauthier said to reporters after the game. "Media likes to say some things and rehash some old things, but I can't control anything any other people say. I'm not here to please everyone, I'm here to do what's best for me."

The Flyers, who had lost four straight games, looked energized. Travis Konecny had four assists, helping the team dominate from start to finish. Their power play, which had struggled all season, scored twice. Matvei Michkov ended a five-game goal drought with a third period power play goal.

Flyers coach John Tortorella praised the team’s performance and the response from Wells Fargo Center's crowd.

“I hope we can play in front of a crowd like that about something meaningful,” Tortorella said, via New York Times. “That’s when we want to see a crowd like that. Not all this stuff you guys are talking about. I want it to be that we’re a team to be reckoned with in a playoff series or whatever it may be.”

Samuel Ersson made 22 saves for the Flyers, earning his first shutout since October.
