"Not a vibe anybody wanted" - J.T. Brown's wife Lexi LaFleur recalls watching 2016 US presidential election results at NHL Halloween party

The U.S. elections were on Tuesday, which brought back old memories for Lexi LaFleur, wife of former NHL player J.T. Brown. On Wednesday, she shared memories of watching the 2016 U.S. election results in her Instagram story.

"So I sit here alone in my pajamas with my anxiety watching the results of this election come in." LaFleur said in her IG story. "I can't help but think of the 2016 presidential election that just so happened to fall on the same day as the NHL team Halloween party."

In her story, Lexi LaFleur recalled the party, where the election results played on multiple TVs. Players in costumes gathered to celebrate, but many couldn’t ignore the tense updates on screen.

"It was the only day that like worked with the hockey schedule or whatever, but look, everybody was in costume." Lexi shared, "The results of the election were like all over the TVs and look, whether you were happy with what was going on or not, happy with what was going on."

Lexi described the atmosphere as unusual for a party, saying,

"That's not a vibe anybody wanted. You know what I mean like... It's not like you want to get a party started. Okay, let's throw on in the club, let's throw and back that a*s up."

Lexi LaFleur added that the event didn’t match the excitement expected at a Halloween party and wanted to get the party going.

Donald Trump won the 2016 U.S. presidential election with the slogan "Make America Great Again". And this year, he won the 2024 U.S. presidential election against Vice President Kamala Harris. His campaign promised to reduce inflation, strengthen border control, and bring jobs back to the U.S.

Lexi LaFleur went viral on TikTok for her comments

Lexi LaFleur went viral on TikTok in September. In her video, she joked that hockey players have big glutes from skating, which makes it hard for them to find jeans that fit. She said they often need custom jeans or Lululemon pants.

“My favorite useless random hockey fact is the fact that hockey players' butts are so big, so bootylicious, that they have a hard time finding jeans that fit." LaFleur said.

Previously, Lexi has also shared her thoughts on NHL trades. She mentioned how partners of NHL players quickly leave one team’s group chat after a trade. Then, they are added to a new team’s chat. She clarified that there’s no secret contact list, just a close-knit hockey community.

Lexi and J.T. Brown married in 2015 and have two children.
