New York Rangers defenseman Zac Jones recently expressed his frustration after being a healthy scratch multiple times during the team's recent slump.

Jones has not played in four of the last five games and will sit out again against the Boston Bruins on Thursday, marking his fifth consecutive game out of the lineup.

Head coach Peter Laviolette addressed Jones' public comments, saying that it's natural for a player in his position to feel frustrated and eager to play.

He emphasized that any specific feedback or message for Jones would be communicated directly to him rather than through the media.

"Any messages that I have for Zach, I'm not going to give to you. I'll give them to Zach and talk with him directly," Laviolette said. "We sit down and when it did happen, there was conversation, and then there's always shifts shown, and with all players on, post game on possible things you can do better, things they do well, things they can do better.
"Since then, the roster has changed on the back end, different players bring in different things. And that's the decision that we're at right now, and it's okay to be frustrated, and I'm perfectly fine with that. Everybody wants to play. You get to this level, everybody wants in. They want to play. And I'm okay with that," he added.

However, Jones is not the first Rangers player to express his frustration regarding lineup decisions during the team's unfavorable results. Kaapo Kakko also voiced his frustration with the team's choices when he was scratched just days before his trade to the Seattle Kraken.

Additionally, Chris Kreider and former captain Jacob Trouba, who was traded to the Anaheim Ducks, are among other players who have been sidelined by the club as a result of being healthy scratches.

Zac Jones has accumulated eight points in 24 games this season with a plus-2 rating. He was drafted No. 58 overall by the Rangers in the 2019 NHL draft and has appeared in 95 games for the club.

What's next for NY Rangers?

Ahead of hosting the Boston Bruins at Madison Square Garden for the first time this season, the Rangers have posted a 7-9-1 record in home games and have an overall record of 16-19-1.

Notably, since their 4-3 victory on the road against the Vancouver Canucks on Nov. 19, the Rangers have struggled significantly, posting a record of 4-15-0. The lackluster performance has left them languishing at the bottom of the Metro Division with 33 points.

The Rangers will be looking to end their skid against the Bruins on Thursday. The puck drops at 7:00 p.m. ET.
